Writer | ˈrītər | noun
1. A person who writes in a specified way. As in "Ilene is a respected writer known for her versatile style, her journalistic chops, and her ability to cut through jargon and the blah blah blahs."
I'm a San Francisco Bay Area-based content marketing writer, editor, and PR consultant with a flair for creating engaging, sharable, well-researched, and crisp content. When I’m not writing and editing, I’m strategizing how to get clients all the attention they deserve.
Beside my brief stint designing ads for the Yellow Pages (the what?), I reported for daily newspapers for 15+ years. At the San Francisco Chronicle, I covered city politics, homelessness, and social services and had a front row seat to historic social change and powerful stories. I no longer work in newsrooms, but I still passionately believe local journalism is the backbone of communities and democracy.
For the last 10 years, I’ve been freelance reporting, blogging, content writing, social media-ing, press release pitching, and editing other people’s copy so it sings.
You get a lot when you work with me.
I love what I do, and it shows. The best part? I get to learn something new every day.
My extensive background in journalism means I understand the media landscape.
I know what makes a good story and how to tell it.
I like deadlines. (Really, I swear!)
You don't have to hold my hand through a project.
I understand SEO!
When you receive that article, web content, press release, or project from me – the one that exceeds expectations – you’ll swear I read your mind. (Did I… ?)
Ready to talk about a project? Say hey.
